Not all garbage can be easily disposed of. This also applies to electronic, especially at the moment. All offices and enterprises, as well as almost all private individuals, can not do without computers. Electronic garbage also includes computers, fax machines, copiers, televisions, mobile phones, cathode-ray lamps. A detailed list can be found in the “Federal Waste Classification Catalog”.

For large enterprises with a large number of workers and electronics in the workplace, getting rid of outdated office equipment is a troublesome and expensive problem. These wastes are harmful to the environment and the environment, they cannot simply be taken to a landfill but must be taken to special organizations for the destruction of various types of garbage requiring disposal.
Harmful substances in electronic and household appliances
In modern electronic technology, albeit in small quantities, contains elements such as cadmium, hexavalent chromium, antimony. Lead and arsenic were used in older models of televisions and computers, mercury in fluorescent lamps. All of them contain organobromide inhibitors of plastic combustion.
Organization of export and disposal of office equipment
The lifespan of computers has been reduced to a maximum of four years in the latest edition of the “Classifier of fixed assets”, and not too expensive models are allowed to be written off earlier. So that during the next inventory in the warehouse of the enterprise, there were no mountains of old electronic equipment, it should be written off in a timely manner. The solution to this problem is usually postponed, and then there is no transport to take out, the documentation has not yet been prepared.
Recycling IT waste: how to start doing business
From a practical point of view, starting an IT waste recycling activity requires, first of all, adequate space for the installation of machinery and the storage of materials. Space must be covered so as not to compromise the materials to be recycled. Furthermore, for some processes specific machines are required, sometimes available also used. Due to the complexity of the operations to be carried out and the different phases of the processes to extract the materials to be recycled, it must be considered that the collaboration of one or more employees may be necessary; a cost to be added to the costs to be incurred continuously.

In the start-up phase of the IT waste recycling activity, it is good to know the potential users of the materials treated and their availability to purchase them, as well as any waste suppliers. municipalities and waste disposal companies are excellent suppliers, but it is unlikely that a newly established company will be able to access this type of public procurement. However, nothing prevents you from signing agreements with private companies, such as, for example, shops or commercial chains that see IT or electronic products in general.
For this as for other entrepreneurial activities, it is advisable to contact the province and the region to which they belong to find out about any funding intended for the opening of new activities, in particular with regard to those related to environmental protection or access to funds allocated to youth entrepreneurial activities. With the exception of specific territorial exceptions, educational qualifications or special courses are not necessary for the development of IT and electronic waste recycling.
